Our work

Four connected paths to stronger neighbourhoods.

NIWA works across sectors because the barriers facing women, young people and low-income communities do not arrive one at a time.

01

Focus area

Rights & accountable governance

NIWA uses public education, advocacy and community dialogue to make institutions more responsive to people whose voices are often missed. Its public record includes women's human-rights advocacy, gender-responsive budgeting and tax-justice work with traders and low-income communities.

02

Focus area

WASH & community health

Community water systems and preventive health are closely connected. NIWA's own archive documents borehole construction and rehabilitation, WASH activity and malaria-related community work in Ebonyi State.

03

Focus area

Education & child protection

NIWA's programme record includes child-labour awareness and a longstanding concern for girls' education. The organisation approaches education as both an opportunity and a right that communities and institutions must protect.

04

Focus area

Livelihoods & environment

NIWA works at the meeting point of household livelihoods, agriculture and environmental wellbeing. Particular attention is given to women traders, farmers and community groups navigating policies that affect their work and income.

A shared principle

Women are not only beneficiaries of development. They are organisers, decision-makers and leaders of it.

Work with NIWA
